Invicta Reserve Pro Diver COSC 4467 Review

by Idaho on Oct.22, 2009, under Reviews

Fit and Finish:

Pro3Now normally I’m not at all a fan of the gold look, however the moment I saw this beauty I just knew I had to have it. I had been looking for a brown dial watch for a long time and the yellow gold just sets it off so nicely. It’s finished in a half brushed and half polished fashion, with the bracelet center-links being polished and outer-links brushed, and the case sides polished and top of lugs brushed. It’s a really nice contrast, perhaps a little heavier on the polished side of things, but rightfully so, as it is gold after all, thus intended to be a dress watch. The crown is quite sizable, which makes it very user friendly and easy to control. The threading is very well done and there is no wiggle room for any error. Simply the best crown I’ve ever used. The case diameter is reported to be 45mm, however I’ve found that measurement to include the crown protectors, and the actual bezel & case diameter, minus crown and protectors, is 43mm. Smaller than I typically like, but again, justly so, it being a more refined and dress occasion piece. The height is conservative 14mm, excluding the Cyclops date magnifier, which I’d, again, typically turn my nose up at, but it, again, is a different type of piece than my usual purchases (being sport watches). The lug to lug is 50mm and they curve very nicely to conform to the wrist and fit comfortably snug. It utilizes sapphire crystals both topside and on the exhibition case-back. Both the watch head and bracelet are coated with 5 microns of 18k yellow gold, which means little to me, but it sure looks nice.

Dial and Bezel:

Part of what I love about this watch is that it, being of the Reserve line, doesn’t have that annoying oversized Invicta wings symbol at the top of the dial, rather it’s a very sleek and beautiful letter “I” wrapped in an “R” in some cursive style writing. In the same fashion, the back end of the seconds hand has the same symbol, which is really nice and flowing. The dial is reasonably clean and easy to read at a quick glance. Probably the only downside to the dial of this watch, is that increasingly obnoxious and totally ripped from Rolex Mercedes hour hand. The hour markers are of an arguably standard size as is the dial, being 32mm. The bezel is one of the nicest I’ve ever worked. There is absolutely no slop or play between any of the very solid 120 clicks and the alignment is so pleasantly spot on.

(9.5/10)

Bracelet:

The watch comes on a fitted solid end-link bracelet that I’ve yet to hear a single rattle from, and is a screwed link system with spring bars that attach to watch head. It’s a very nice system, commonly regarded as the best. It utilizes a dual deployment push button clasp with a nice fold over signed emblem. For me there is no need for any straps or changes, as it’s more than at home on this truly beautiful bracelet.

(10/10)

Movement & Accuracy:

This piece uses a COSC certified movement, in specific the Swiss Made, 26 Jewel, Sellita SW200, which has a very nicely signed and specially finished INVICTA rotor. I’ve clocked the piece’s accuracy at -3 seconds per day, though that’s with quite a lack of activity, which would leave me to believe that should I have a watchmaker put it on a machine, it’d be more like +2 or 3. I’m a huge fan of the Sellita, myself, and regard it as a much better version of its predecessor and inspiration, the ETA 2824/2. It winds so much smoother and the crown action is just so effortless that I get giddy when I manipulate it. And the big plus is the really cool certification paperwork that it comes with, from the COSC.

(10/10)

Presentation & Customer Service:

Presentation has always been a big deal to me, and though this piece came in a somewhat uninspired box, I’ve always been a fan of the typical Invicta “yellow clam closure” type jewelry box that a lot of their lines come in. This particular model came wrapped in a nice black leather, with a plush black suede interior and cushion, as well as an outer black waxed cardboard box with Invicta Reserve symbols. There’s nothing much to say about it really, it’s a little bland, but I’m more than satisfied with it.

Overall Rating: 9.75/10

Invicta Pro Diver 4469 Review

by Idaho on Oct.22, 2009, under Reviews

Diver1The Invicta Pro Diver 4469 is all that an Invicta or Swiss divers watch fan wants. The watch has a big case, is all Swiss made, has a new design making it a living legend.

The Case:
This watch is made from a solid block of stainless steel; it has a 43mm case, which makes this watch stand out from the average dive watches, which are normally 38mm to 40mm. Bigger watches are the latest trend and this is indeed a big sexy dive watch. The watch is curved which makes it fit the wrist perfectly.

The Dial:
Some people don’t like mother of pearl, I dislike it two, but not in this watch, the MOP is very nice and it shines only when its necessary, is mainly black. The markers are amazing, they remind me of the “maxi dial”, and the big markers make the dial look very good. The date magnifier is excellent, better than any other Invicta model, perfectly centered in the middle.

And one of the most important features of the watch is the “Swiss Made” printed on the dial.

The Bracelet:
An important feature on this Invicta Pro Diver 4469 is the bracelet, which has solid end links and a high quality clasp. The brushed/polished look is normal for Invicta divers, it looks great, but is very easy to scratch.

The solid end links are a big upgrade over the regular divers and gives the watch a more solid and high quality look.

The Crown:
The crown on this watch is very nicely placed is one of the easiest to use crown ever, super big, very easy to grip and to turn, perfect crown on this watch.

The Bezel:
This watch has the beloved “coin edge bezel”, it’s the most easy to use, looks great and its classic, and Invicta did a great job on the 4469, it is all polished and pops like diamonds when the lights hit it, looks simply amazing.

The luminescent dot at the “12” is missing, some people might not like that, for me it isn’t a big deal as I will never go diving and don’t really have a use for it.

The Case-back:
We all know that when it comes to case-backs, Invicta is an expert, and this watch isn’t an exception. Displaying all the relevant information about the Invicta Pro Diver 4469 watch; such as “Sapphire”, “W.R. 300 meters”, and “Automatic Movement”. The case-back on this watch is simply stunning.

The movement is on this watch Sellita SW200 and is very accurate. This movement has been used in a lot of other Swiss brands such as Breitling and Oris.

The rotor is nicely decorated with Invicta engraved in it and has a grey tone.

Conclusion:
This is a well made Swiss watch, it has all the features of much more expensive watches. It looks extremely good on the wrist and gets a lot of compliments.

This watch is not in the Rolex, Omega or Tag Heuer league, but it has so many of the same features. You could easily pay $5,000 for a Submariner or $2,000 for a Seamaster or you get to hold this timepiece in your hands for just $380.

Its decorated case-back and movement, the 43mm size, the hands, its coin edge bezel, the solid bracelet and its price makes the Invicta Pro Diver 4469 an instant winner.
